😭 So jelly! We won't have any huckleberries this year b/c no snowpack.
These are the best berry! And people here in Toronto generally don't know what they are. I have enough for a pie or two, but they are in the freezer because it's been too hot to bake. That has changed today, though, so I should get on it.
Is it a serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolila)? They are like little apples but the seeds are edible. We've made jam and pancake syrup from them.
Ahhh!! Serviceberry! The Japanese beetles are devouring our bushes at the moment. The birds got the berries, but I agree they are very delicious.
Quick correction. They are part of the rose family, not the blueberry family, despite the similarities.

The berries this year are incredible. Blueberries, saskatoons, wild raspberries and strawberries. My granddaughter and I go on "fruit salad' walks.
