A friend tells Rachel, “So to cut down on my screen time, I’ve tried to replace video games with joining a board game club.” Rachel asks, “Awesome, how did you like it?” The friend replies, “It’s been fun, but I don’t like the unskippable cutscenes the first time you play a game!” Rachel looks puzzled, thinking, “Unskippable cutscenes…?” In the final panel, the friend asks, “Wait, do you mean… the rules explanation?” Rachel answers, “Ah, is that what that is? I wasn’t paying attention.”

Gazelle and Lion are playing the ancient game Senet. Lion says, "You know what is really tricky?" Gazelle guesses, "Life?" Lion replies, "Backing a game on Kickstarter! It's like buying your future self a present." Gazelle responds, "But you don't know your future self... So how would you know if it's a good present?" Lion smiles and says, "Exactly!" In the final panel, the crow comments, "You two have been playing games for thousands of years - it's not like you will change now." Lion protests, "I might get into slightly different games!"

A two-panel comic titled "Evolution of Our Game Collection." In the left panel, labelled "Early Days," Rachel and Heinze are depicted as merchants in the setting of the board game Merkator. Rachel, dressed in period clothing and holding a rolled document, looks at Heinze, who is wearing a feathered hat and merchant's outfit. At the top of the panel, there's a portrait of Heinze who says: "We're merchants collecting and delivering goods to fulfil contracts." The scene is calm and historical, with barrels and a timber-framed interior. In the right panel, labelled "Nowadays," Rachel and Heinze appear as whimsical characters from Magical Athlete. Rachel, dressed as a banana wearing shoes and a tiny black hat, looks delighted while Heinze, looking like a ship's captain and holding a ship's wheel, is mid-stride with one foot caught as he trips. Three-panel comic. Heinze and Rachel are sweating in extreme heat while Apollo the cat lies sprawled on the floor. Heinze moans that it is too hot, Rachel suggests playing a game to take their minds off the heat. A mock warning announces "Brain melting" as they play, showing that Heinze's brain is already mostly occupied "trying to cope with the heat" while he's also trying to play a game. Five minutes later, Heinze deliriously asks, "Why so many trick-taking games? Why are there no trick-giving games?" Rachel, also looking delirious, replies, "Wow... I can see you speak!"

A comic about the party game Bounce It! Somebody says "OK, let's try this!" and they nounce away a small blue ball that is smiling, ricocheting wildly around the room with repeated "BOING," "BOING," and "BONK" sound effects. It bounces through a panel with Rachel staring confused, smacks into a tea glass that's being hold by Heinze ("WHACK!"). It continues their way to a panel with two napping cats and bounces of Apollo's head on to the panels on the left. After three panels we see Apollo glaring at the wildly bouncing ball. It bounces to the panel below and we see Apollo jumping out of the panel attacking the ball. From the other corner, Starbuck launches herself at the ball as well. The ball screams in fear. Rachel laughs and says, "I wonder if they tested this game with cat owners..." while Heinze looks less amused at the stain in his shirt and the painful spot on his arm where the tea hit him.

Three-panel comic. A friend invites Rachel and Heinze to a barbecue on Saturday if it doesn't rain. In that same moment, Heinze excitedly shows Rachel a newly arrived board game The Old King's Crown and says "I know what we'll be doing on Saturday". In the final panel, the friend is still raging on about the bbq and Rachel secretly searches her phone for "rain gods to pray to..." hoping rain will cancel the barbecue so they can stay home and play the new game instead.

Comic strip featuring Heinze and Rachel walking together. Heinze says he feels like he hasn't played a board game in ages. Rachel points out that he played Moonstone yesterday. Heinze replies that Moonstone is a miniatures game. Rachel then reminds him they played Microscope the day before; Heinze says that's a storytelling game. She next mentions that he played Sorcery two days ago; Heinze responds that it's a trading card game. After an awkward pause, Heinze exclaims, "I just want to play something with some workers and worry about resources!"

A Catan x Linkin Park game night
A multi-panel comic titled “Lion and Gazelle #25” shows Lion and Gazelle debating what counts as a “game.” In the first panel, Lion warns that the discussion is exhausting as he begins explaining “things being or not being a game.” In the next panels, Gazelle grows more thoughtful and confused, suggesting that something might be a game if it has rules or requires sitting at a table, and Lion questions whether that would make dinner a game. Gazelle insists dinner has many rules. In the final panel, a crow interjects that dinner can’t be a game because you’re not supposed to play with food, while Lion adds that this only covers food and asks whether drinking counts as a game, leaving everybody pondering the increasingly vague definition.
Panel 1: Rachel, smiling brightly, excitedly says “GAME NIGHT!” A friend responds, “I don’t have any preferences about what we play tonight. Are there any games you would like to play?” Heinze then says, “I have some ideas!” Panel 2: A few hours later, Rachel stands outside looking tired and overwhelmed, waving their friend goodbye as Heinze remains in the doorway, still talking. Rachel says, “Sorry, maybe we’ll play a game next time... Bye!” Heinze continues, “Oh, I also want to play Aristeia and Brass Birmingham before the new versions come out! And...”

HOW IT STARTED Rachel and Heinze stand outside by a window with two crows perched nearby. Heinze says, “Crows are said to be as smart as a seven-year-old! So they should be able to play HABA games...?” Rachel replies, “Ohhh, that’s really cool!” HOW IT'S GOING Rachel and Heinze are seated outdoors at a table playing a game with crows. One crow aggressively attacks Rachel’s face while another gives Heinze an evil stare from the table. Rachel cries out, “We should have researched beforehand if crows are sore losers!” Heinze adds, “What if they really hold generational grudges?!”

“Semi Co-Op Are Starting a Snack Review Channel.” Rachel holds a bag of “chorizo licorice chips” while smiling at the viewer. Rachel says, “This is chorizo licorice chips! We rate it 5 out of 5!” Heinze says, “These are the perfect chips to serve during game night,” followed by, “We look like good hosts, but nobody’s going to grab one and leave greasy residue on the board game.” A small bowl of chips sits on the table in front of them. Their cats, Starbuck (sitting on the left, looking skeptical) and Apollo (lying on the right, wide-eyed), flank the scene.

A six-panel comic featuring Heinze and Rachel in their living room with their cats, Starbuck and Apollo. Heinze is standing and humming while wearing a wooden bench on his head like a hat. Rachel, sitting on a couch with a drink, looks confused and asks why he has a bench on his head. Heinze turns and explains that in the board game “Wine & Cheese,” worker placement can be complex, so a “bench-hat” is used as a mental reminder. The comic cuts to a game board where a yellow worker shaped like a bench is placed, indicating the worker is going home, and red workers show fields being emptied. Heinze continues explaining that if it’s a hat, it means the worker has taken everything from the fields. Back in the living room, Rachel realizes that since Heinze is wearing the hat, he must have just been at the fridge, which was full of snacks. Heinze happily confirms this while sneakily passing on a piece of cheese to the cats who have gathered behind him, trying to grab the cheese.

Rachel says, “It’s the sound of the Polyps!” Panel 2: Rachel stands next to Heinze, she asks “What’s wrong?” Heinze replies, “Oh, I’m just scared of the beast.” Panel 3: Rachel smiles reassuringly, holding her sword, and says, “Don’t worry, it’s just as scared of us as you are of it!” Panel 4: A dark forest scene labeled “BEAST.” A shadowy creature named Bolgin lurks with glowing eyes.
