This is giving me the dream for a sleeper computer. Large low RPM fans on either side of the curio, pull out motherboard for easy service, your NAS on another drawer, maybe even hide away the VR headset. Hook it up to the 4k TV and sound system in the living room
They even had one with tvs
Until you moved and had to get 3 friends to help you carry that behemoth down stairs

It really amazes me to see reel-to-reel tape decks in those things. In real life, I have encountered one person, only one, who actually had a tape deck and a library of prerecorded reel-to-reel tapes. (Separate, not integrated into a console like that). I'd be mildly curious to know what percentage

Just picked-up a similar one from someone moving who didn't want to haul it across country. Need to pull the turntable and replace the belt. But other than that it works. Heavy darn thing.
Ya' know, my grandpa had one of these but he never used so we didn't know what it was. One day I was helping my aunt move out some furniture and the door flung open and I was all like "What the hell is THIS?!" I think she sold it for, like, $1000 but I'm wondering if she got screwed. These are cool

Those 1970s systems cost up to $5,000, the equivalent of about $40,000 adjusted for inflation. And today all that fits in your pocket and only costs about $1,500 at the high end.

Those old - big-chunks-of-wood - stereograms sounded amazing.
I was very fortunate to spend my 30s in the 70s.
We needed lit entertainment centers to make up for the clothing ‘fashions’. 😂
All that and more we carry in our pockets today. Crazy.
And bulky.

This was in our Airbnb last Spring in Milwaukee. Yes, it works. Yes, there is a stash of LP vinyl. The Mantovani album was absolutely cool.
Not sure that drawer provides a decent plane for a turntable.

My (deceased) grandparents have several of these, and I always hoped I could have one of them.
Our family had a Packard Bell Stereo like that but without the reel to reel deck and everything else was accessible from the top.

I miss neat toys like that. I mean, the sound quality sucked, but the entertainment value was priceless! (As long as you never had to move)
