Social media is a complicated topic and can be a double-edge sword; it can be a place of rejection, isolation, connection, and/or refuge. Social media because it can be an important hub of information for trans youth. German youth found positive impacts (online support networks) and negative impacts (cyberbullying) in their use of social media. For youth of color, social media can be identity-affirming. There is some evidence that social media “support the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ youths through peer connection, identity management, and social support, but findings were limited by weaknesses in the evidence”.

Subtitle B, Section 211: Creation of a public awareness and educational campaign on safe use of the internet by minors. Section 534 calls for education on safe and responsible use of chatbots by minors.
