"Amethyst Empress - Finished" I'm almost done with The World of Ice and Fire, and to celebrate that I wanted to do some fan art. I decided to draw the Amethyst Empress a mysterious figure from legendary Great Empire of the Dawn. We don't know much about her, yet I was fascinated by her for a long time (I become seriously interested in ASoIaF when I watched a couple of Alt Shift X lore videos). Her sad fate reminds me of the Numenorian queen Tar-Miriel from The Silmarillion, which may be intentional, since there are many references to Tolkien works in a world of ice and fire. They both died in a tragic way and were usurped by their male relatives, who worshipped dark deities, and caused the fall of their nations. My portrayal of her was inspired by real life Chinese empresses. After all, the legends about The Great Empire of the Dawn come from Yi-ti, which is basically Grrm's version of China. The crown that she's wearing was modeled after so called 'Phoenix Crown' of Chinese empresses, but instead of phoenix I put a two legged dragon in its center. Dragon itself is a mixture of Asian Dragon and Targaryen sigil. I thinks it's possible that Valyrians, and therefore the Targaryens, are descended from GEotD. I also tried to give the Empress a skunk stripe similar to one the prince Valarr has, but it's not visible (I'm still not great at drawing hair). This artwork was made mostly with pencils and charcoal, but I also used markers, fineliner pen and acrylic paint. Then the scanned picture was edited a bit in GIMP and Paint.

A drawing of violets, red tulip and yellow tulip. The spring is finally there. I grew bored with art practice and decided to draw flowers from my yard. I have many plans for another drawings, but for now I'm putting them on hold. I'll continue with my figure drawing practice and then I'll go back to perspective. Overall I wasn't very active here, because I kept myself occupied with other things like gardening etc. I hope that all flowers I planted will bloom, so I could share their beauty with you.
A little doodle of mage I made last year. It was meant as a pose practice. I decided to post it, because I don't have any new works to share and it looks decent enough. March is approaching, so I thought it would be a good idea to resume my art practice, I have few books with exercises, I need to return to. Right now I'm reading a "Perspective Made Easy" by E. Norling. Because of this I won't post often, though my upload schedule isn't that great anyway.

Martin, A Game of Thrones I finished my fanart of Lyanna Stark a character from "A Song of Ice and Fire". Mostly done with acrylics I used black marker and colored pencils for the eyes. In fact this piece started as a greyscale pencil drawing, but I wanted to incorporate some color and decided to paint it over. I wanted this portrait to be faithful to the book, though I'm not sure if I got the character's age right. For the reference I used a vintage photo of a woman with her head tilted down, though I don't know how well it translated into my picture.

I got inspiration from the event called "LyannaWeek2026" on Tumblr, though by the time I discovered it, it was too late for me to participate. I just started coloring, but I still need to finish sketching her shoulder area. For now it looks rough, some details may still change

Tolkien, "The Fellowship of the Ring" Mixed media on paper + digital retouch I wanted to do another LOTR fanart, because I haven't done any in a while. There are some mistakes, mostly caused by the fact that I rushed this piece and didn't check out the source before I started to draw, which led to hasty changes. This applies in particular to the pose, which is incorrect (Legolas' hand should support the arrow, so it's placed too low), but by the time I noticed I was unable to fix it.

This piece has quite a long history. I first came with the idea of making it in January, when I was painting my fan art of Varda Elbereth. As I was working on it, I was listening to a song of Belarusian musician Dziwia titled "Flower Maiden". From it I got the idea of creating an artwork of woman dressed in flowers. The idea evolved in time as I decided that I would like to practice drawing people of different ethnicities. After that I was wondering about the background and what should I put in there to make it interesting to look at. I chose to depict a ruin of some rich house and trees (yes I draw a lot of trees, but I like them). The goal was to convey a message about how nature, will conquer everything and to give it a subtly magical feel. That's why in the background a spring cherry blossom is accompanied by autumnal trees. The Lady herself represents nature and have the ability to make it grow as she wills it. Originally I've got the ambitious plan to include many species of flowers/plants from different regions and to mix architectonical styles a bit, but that would require a lot of references and time, so I partially dropped this idea. Instead I chose to adorn ruined wall with the 'medieval' style paintings and to add a toppled greek like column. There are some things that could be better like a window for example, but overall I'm quite proud of this piece. Besides this artwork may be considered my tribute to warm weather; spring, summer and gentle autumn. I'm not a fan of cold and even though the winter has barely begun I already want it gone. So I'm waiting for spring and for flowers to bloom.
I wanted to draw The Illusive Man a character from Mass Effect video game franchise, as a practice. In the Mass Effect universe Milky Way is populated by many sentient species and humans are newcomers who try to find their place in the galactic community. Illusive Man is a mysterious figure and a leader of secret organization called Cerberus. They accept only humans and their methods are rather questionable. Supposedly Cerberus and their agents are helping humanity to advance, but in reality it seems that their true goal is human supremacy. All things considered The Illusive Man is a villain, but a really charismatic one. The fact that he was voiced by Martin Sheen also doesn't hurt. I tried to use the Grid Method with some partial success. Originally I planned to make this piece only with pencils and maybe markers, but I got carried away.

She's a sorceress and the priestess of god R'hllor also known as Lord of Light and the Heart of Fire among the others. Melisandre comes from the city of Asshai a mysterious place known mostly as a location where one may gain forbidden knowledge and powers. Main task of followers of R'hllor is preparation for an apocalyptic event called the Long Night that is prophesized to come again and searching for Azor Ahai reborn. Azor Ahai is a legendary hero who supposedly ended the first Long Night. Melisandre believes that king Stannis Baratheon is new Azor Ahai, so she comes to his court and convinces him to turn away from the squabbles of ordinary men and to prepare for the things to come. Despite her good intentions Melisandre is one of the most morally ambiguous characters in the series. Religion of R'hllor is based on the notion that stopping the Long Night requires some extreme sacrifices, including burning people alive. Under her influence king Stannis starts to punish those who displease him by executing them in that manner and doing other unsavory things. Like all followers of Lord of Light Melisandre has fire powers and an ability to see visions in flames. On my picture her robes, hair, figure and fire coming from her hands form the shape of a fiery heart, which is a symbol of R'hllor. In that way I wanted to show Melisandre's devotion to her god.
This painting depicts Sansa Stark a character from Asoiaf. She appeared in a vision as a "maid with purple serpents in her hair". I potrayed her in a hairnet made of snakes, because she wears a hairnet at some point and it's relevant for the plot of the book.
"The Well Below the Valley" is an Irish variant of medieval murder ballad called "The Maid and the Palmer", which was published in several anthologies including the famous "Child Ballads". It is speculated that the song was inspired by the story of the woman at the well from the Bible. Due to its dark subject matter (infaticide and incest), it was considered unlucky by folk singers, who didn't want to perform it. The ballad was presumed to be lost in oral tradition in all British Isles. However in the sixties it was discovered, that some irish tinkerers still sung it . The Irish band Planxty popularised this ballad under the name it is known today, and since then it was covered by many artists. Despite the disturbing lyrics I find this song strangely beautitul, so I decided to make an illustration to it. I used several references such as: "Farmland at Dunloe Lower" by David Medcalf, the 15th century painting "Jesus and the Samaritan Woman at the Well" by Juan de Flandes and "Old Male Body - Reference photo pack" by @ReferencePacks .
My another fan art of Morwen Eledhwen a character from Silmarillion; wife to Húrin Thalion and mother of Túrin Turambar. She held the title of Lady of Dor-Lómin and was regarded as the most beautiful mortal woman of old days. Her monicker Eledhwen means "Elven-fair". Morwen had a hard life and was forced to flee from her home twice, but despite that she remained proud, though cold woman. Her most striking feature were her shining grey eyes, which reminded people of the Elves. After the battle of Unnnumbered Tears and fall of Húrin and the elven lords, Easterlings (who were aligned with The Dark Lord Morgoth) occupied Hithlum and Dor-Lómin. They tormented people, who lived there, but they left Morwen alone, because they were afraid of her eyes and took her for a witch. I tried to give her a sort of stern dignified beauty to reflect her personality. For reference I used photos of Katharine Hepburn and Anita Ekberg among others.
