SFGATE @sfgate.com · 16d A Fresno man was found alive nearly a week after disappearing during a fishing trip in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The family of 70-year-old Rondy Earl Packard Sr. reported him missing on June 28 after he failed to return home.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team then launched an extensive ground and aerial search of the remote wilderness. Packard was ultimately found alive, alert and in good health, the sheriff's office said.
