A dirty old cat sings to himself in the dark while eating his dinner. He's working up to bowls! He's really been around forever (as long as I've been here) and he's finally up for some love! (And food) Jimbo is doing good, he's such a little warrior; last week he left evidence of a real battle over the sanctity of our porch- he left a rascal raccoon's eye and half his face to show his victory. I'm worried, but he doesn't have a scratch on him! We'll be watching and preventing (hopefully) attracting more! A new stray kiddo has appeared at home; all black and a real handsome creature, I'm thinking of "them" as Salem (because I'm basic haha) more on him (?) in the future(?) *Off topic, everyone at Cattica is doing okay! I can give pets, but he's not fully comfortable around me yet, and my phone going off or just catching him wrong can have him bolt out of reach, but I've also learned that if I cry dramatically he'll run back! 😸 He's not sure what this whole lap thing is about, but he's pretty close to figuring it out!

June 20th, 2024. A black kitten has shown up at a family member's home the night before. I'm so pleased to greet "her"! (This mistake lasted long enough that the name stuck) Missy was still nursing her litter and Penny didn't think twice! He became hers too. He played a little roughly with the infants, so he was ready to meet his future "dad"!

Penny! My cuddlebug. His name comes from "Penelope", which is of Greek origin, and could mean "weaver" or "duck". It's associated with Penelope, Homer's faithful wife in the Odyssey, who cleverly kept pushy suitors away (with her weaving skills) long enough for her wayward husband to come back from the dead! Another connection is, of course, to currency. He's my lucky Penny, or perhaps he's a magic ducat?
Charlie, the near twin of her mother, Charlotte, also shares her name's root. This may be the most "common" name in the world, in my opinion, as "Charles" means "free man", or just "man". So Charlotte is "free woman" or "little woman" and Charlie is "little man" (or woman in this case). They are both French, I think, and they are very royal names, which really matches the "queen" and "tomboy princess" personalities they have! What do you think?

This is the pregame set up for the game! I've seen location/map based games where you're supposed to be a monster dealing with humans that did not spark so much fun. So there's hikers, hunters, and researchers, and the game lies not in being mobile yourself, but making them humans run around! All the art is amazing and the hiding spot cards are so good!

I can't fit that in this box, I checked!, but basically I gave Gem (the Google AI) the start of an idea of an island inhabited by women (like the amazonians in DC and this one island from Greek mythology I can't remember) but with a "modern" eye on gender. Honestly my first thought was, "ah a bunch of women teaching their future protector how to love women" but I'm happy that it shaped out to be "a bunch of women teach two women how to love themselves". There's a lot of reasons why I probably have crossed a line with someone, so please accept that I super didn't intend to, I've just been thinking on television and how to keep it what it was for us and not just flashing lights and sounds to occupy the mind. And this was my stab at that. I wish I could make a comic out of it, or watch it online already 😅

This is an image of Charlie, the tuxedo cat, as a baby and currently. I had fun looking up different things to put into this, and I kind of want to make one for all the cats now! What should I call them? Charlie's name is written twice (once in print, and behind it in cursive) and there are black and white flowers decorating the sides along with some loops. I gave her two marks, a crown to represent her regal demeanor and a snoozing kitty because she's all about comfort! Those are the two things Gemini added to the picture, idea wise! I wanted a scrapbook/middle school notebook diary feel. What do you think?
