Getting comfy talking to strangers is the biggest barrier, and we're basically all in "more scared of you than you are of them" territory. The easiest way to really dive in is via chatting with old people who look chill at places like grocery stores, in lines, etc. Older women especially get ignored a lot by society, so I pretty much always find someone who is desperate for a chat (sometimes with wild as hell stories too). It’s low stakes bc they’re not going to ask to speak to you further unless you really hit it off, and if you really hit it off then you’ve got a new friend who can teach you a lot! I’ve made a lot of friends by just going up to people and complimenting them or honestly sometimes even eavesdropping and making little jokes (advanced strat do not recommend). Send that reply! Do your best and if someone judges you for being friendly that’s on them
