if you’re English, can you tell me if there’s a difference when someone looks at you and says fuck off vs fuck you?

I think for me the fuck you would feel very personal and hurtful. If someone says that they’re really angry. Fuck off is more casual, you’d hear it in a group of friends with each other and it doesn’t mean they’re angry necessarily. Just exasperated and they want to poke fun at you

Fuck you would deffo be directed at the ref, but fuck off could just be exasperation with the situation

"Fuck off' CAN be directed at someone in some cases. But it can also translate to something like "No way!" (same cadence too) to express yourself without directing it at someone. "Fuck you" is pretty much always personal and direct.
