“Nothing.” The machine’s soft insides lit up with a thousand rapid-fire thoughts, like lightning in a distant cloud bank. “That is, I would prefer this one.”
The machine held out the plastic envelope. Inside, vaccum sealed into its mould, was an auricle rotor. It looked exactly the same as the ones gimbaling from the crown of the chassis—save for one odd detail.
“It’s pink.”
“Indeed.”
