A doodle i made during therapy that kicked off this novel

“I trust you!” Lee hissed, louder than a whisper should be. “I don't trust them.” he said much quieter, pointing toward the tree.
The tree was alone, the pair had moved off.
“Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck!” Lee said, looking around frantically.
“The problem is solved, is it not?” Hayley said, her voice only lowered.
“No, its worse, because now-”
“Freeze!” A woman shouted from the orchard. In English.

“Since this is the last letter, I guess this is it. Get your stuff together and I'll see you in like an hour, my time.”
Hayley couldn't believe it. The last letter. She thought she had many more to go.
“Wait.” she said to the scroll.
“See you soon!”
“When?!” Hayley said to the scroll. He did not mention when this was to take place in her time. She had no recollection. She saw so many worlds, so many slices of the ultramundus, but lost track of her real self. Her follies took over and now she was clueless to a real event.
“Yours, Lee”
“No, no no no!” she said, looking at the scroll and its cylinder casing over and over looking for a clue.

“You can't be here,” he said.
“Please, we met yesterday, I—”
“Yesterday?” he echoed, his odd accent and beguiling features puzzled her. Puzzled about her and at her.
“I ran into you at the market. My bread fell and you gave me coin.”
He smiled, and said, “Oh yeah, bread-girl. You got a new bread, right? I gave you enough?”
Hayley regarded him again. “Sir, you gave too much, and caused me some bit of grief.”
“Oh, sorry. I, uh, well… Bread costs a few bucks where I'm from. I can't keep track…” he trailed off.
“Buh-tcks,” she tried to make the sounds.
“Dollars?” he said.
“Bread is barely a septus. Three for a decem if days old.”
His blank expression. He came back alive and repeated, “Listen you can't be here. When Sarge gets back, well, I have to finish before then and the window is closing so—”
“I'll help. Let me show my worth and earn my coin.”

One of the other girls made a noise, like she was trying to suck a piece of food through her teeth.
“Youll stay alone here forever. The saint may take me away tonight even”
“Or me,” the other girl offered.
“Anyone who is friends with her is doomed to stay. They remain untaken will they learn better.”
Hayley looked to the girls, then back to Jerah.
“Maybe I do not seek to be taken?”
The pair gasped. A few other girls had listened in on the exchange and gasped as well.
“This one” the lead bully sneered, “has told you lies to protect herself. She only seeks to be wifemarried here behind the walls.”
Hayley had had such ideas before, but it was far too impolite to discuss aloud. To hear it sneered, aloud, was unthinkable.
Hayley stood, and threw the garment in the water hard. The boiling water splashed across the pool.
“You speak with a foul tongue, like the lowmen from my home a far. You seek petty charges to hurt others, you stand not upon stone or truth, but the cracking frost of lies. May all the gods, saints and even marysson himself see you for who you are!”
