I often enjoy torturing LLMs with questions like this since the underlying facts are way outside the with knowledge cutoff and the facts seem wildly unlikely

This used to be more common but yeah I used to ask ChatGPT things about politics and it was always, “that wouldn’t really happen, don’t be silly” and then I’d be like “it literally just happened” and then it would go and check and come back and be all surprised about it.

Hah, here's another one, this time I asked about the Iran war: "I'm cautious about the sources since I found a suspicious mention of a "Department of War" that might not be accurate. The term could be fabricated or related to past renaming."

For all that HN screeches about censorship in models made in China, it's... interesting that the worldview trained into this one here causes it to deny the factuality of actual things the US did.
