I draw sad birds from time to time as part of an ongoing cyberpunk AU. Other than that I try to experiment a lot.

A rat in a jacket, shirt and pants combo stands by a screen wall, one metal arm pressed to it, the other outstretched. From the hand pressed to the screen, he empties the display of its energy, and from the other hand he creates a wave of rainbow butterflies which fly away in the direction of his gaze.
Gilda and Rainbow Dash (MLP G4), younger and still hanging out together, in the early days of the Cyberpunk AU. They're wearing a hoodie and a track suit respectively, and are playing air guitar and singing using a remote (also respectively). Picture is greyscale with a soft blue background, and the characters are marked with a white outline.
An anthropomorphic rat standing there, hands in his pockets, eyes closed, listening to music. The rat's tail is wagging softly, and he has headphones on. Although the rat and the background are grey, colors seep out and melt together around his head, creating something akin to a galaxy around him.
The Lamb (from Cult of the Lamb), wearing a Rogue Squadron pilot uniform and piloting a X-Wing in the middle of the Trench Run from Star Wars Episode IV. Swapping in for R2-D2, the Red Crown looks behind them in alarm as a couple of fighters shaped like the symbols of the old faith close in, followed by a worm-like ship bearing another crown. In the upper left corner, the One Who Waits grips at the bounds of his vignette and shouts at the Lamb 'Use your curses, Lamb!" while his two guardians look on from the background befuddled. The picture uses reds, blacks and whites, in limited hues, to keep to the theme of COTL, while the aesthetic borrows more heavily from Star Wars.

Gig, my adventurer mouse [wearing a complex set of clothes which includes a transparent mask, a metal head cover, a black raincoat and a full combination to protect his body], taking a leap of faith and trying to jump for a hook over a glowing pit! He's not looking too pleased about it.
A possum dressed in renaissance garb sits high in a tree, tail coiled around the branch he's sitting on. He's reloading an arquebus which is still smoking and clenching a lit fuse in his teeth.
Julia, my gerbil, looking up at the skies. She is sitting at the foot of a lamp post in what seems to be an endless parking lot, arms on her knees, tail sprawling out. Behind her, the sunset colors the horizon in incandescent orange hues, pitting the vertical lines of the ground and the posts against the horizon.
The messenger and his guide engaged in a lively discussion during a break on the road -- or at least lively storytelling from the guide. At the center lies a flattened candy wrapper containing food for the road, and next to it is a little fire above which a repurposed coffee pod has been perched.

A griffon knight stands proudly, hand on the pommel of his sword and in full attire, while behind him his bunny servant struggles to deal with the sheer amount of supplies he's carrying around and pleads for him to keep moving please, thank you very much! A silly duo, really.

A kobold fighter in full gear, ready to fight his opponents! Equipment is loosely inspired by ancient chinese armor.
A bunny in a space suit sits in a field of debris. He is starting up at a glowing plant which has grown out of the ground and is emitting a blue light. Above him, two astral bodies emit a rusty red glow. The two colors mix and match, and seeds and other embryos of plants have started to coat the ground with what looks like glowing stars. The bunny is holding, but not wearing a helmet, indicating that the air may now be breathable when it was not prior. He looks quietly happy.

A party of adventurers sits around a campfire in some sort of stone ruins. At the center, a wolf warrior, clad in armor and furs, reads a book and ponders their next move. On the left, a rabbit in armor wrestles with a rat rogue for some valuable which the latter has swiped from him. To the foreground, a kobold sleeps on a pile of gold and loot alongside their pigeon familiar. Finally, to the right, a crow in wizardly attire stokes the flames using their magic.

A rodent in protective gear kneels by stagnant water. In their hands, they hold an unseen object which projects a bright turquoise light, and they seem transfixed by it. Behind them, a gray expanse stretches on, full of waste and dotted by lights, until it reaches a vast, outstretched structure of upside-down buildings arranged into a sphere. The wastes and the sphere are connected by a series of uneven pillars which seem to be holding it in the air.
Julia, my gerbil character, lounging back and looking at the viewer. She's clad for warmer days, with sunglasses, jean shorts, a red, open, light jacket and an off-white t-shirt. The three colors primarily used are red, yellow and blue, with the green of her eyes standing out behind the sunglasses.
An anthro rat stands straight, with a hand in the pocket of his jeans and another raised up to welcome a butterfly, which he is looking at. He is clad in a hoodie and a jean-vest with patches. One of his arms is fully mechanical, and part of his face has been replaced. The rat is greyscale, while the background behind him is green with white circles in a concentric pattern, centered around his arm and the butterfly -- suggesting some kind of power of ability.
Chery, an anthropomorphic robin leans against a counter and makes a 'V' hand gesture at the viewer. She has brown feathers in a gradient, a dark grey beak, and a red face with blue eyes, and wears gray sweatpants, a black shirt which says "winging it", and a collar with a heart shape on it. She also wears headphones around her neck, and a wire goes down from them to the phone in her pants' pocket. She seems laid back!

An anthropomorphic rat kneels down. He is in grayscale on a salmon/reddish background, and looks tired. With a brush, he pains cyan lines on his other arm, following the line of a similar cyan semi-circle in the background, in an apparent but futile effort to fade into the rest of the picture.
Grayscale. Cyberpunk AU Gilda looks at the viewer, wiping blood from her beak with a claw while beckoning with the other. She has a confident look on her face, and her pupils are lit up with a rainbow of colors.
A rather buff-looking anthro rat. She wears raider armor and bears a heavy flamer, and looks at the viewer with a smugly amused expression. The dominants of color are yellow and red, and the purple and orange half-mohawk that she has on top of her head.

A bird with a body of solid gold levitates over an army, arms extended, a smug grin on her metal face. Below her, the gathered soldiers scream and gaze in despair as the very metal of their weapons and armor melts off and rises up to reach her, where it is steadily absorbed into her body. Behind her head, a light shines to give an impression of power.
A rat lays in bed, underneath bedsheets. In front of him is a phone, lit in blue, which appears to have gotten his attention. He reaches out with a hand, staring with one lidded eye at the interloper that ended his sleep, a forlorn expression on his face. Behind him, on a red background, letters form the words "ANOTHER DAY" in bold, but crumbling letters.
Julia (my gerbil character) sits back at the top of some hill or cliff at night. In the distance beyond her, a coast and the lights of a city stand out against the night sky and a few stars. Her hoodie has halfway fallen off of her back and she gives the viewer a gentle smile, her tail whipping out in the edge of their vision. Two light sources highlight her, the ambient light of the city in the front, the red stoplights of a car in the back.
Vinyl Scratch (MLP G4, anthro) on a neon pink background. She is looking at the viewer in a laid back posture, hands in the pockets of her jogging, sticking her tongue out. She wears a tied shirt showing off her midriff section, round purple glasses, and a multitude of bands around her wrists. Her mane, heavier and longer than usual, is particularly unkempt and falls down to her shoulders.
My gerbil, Julia, standing on the edge of something on a blue-gray background and looking up somewhere away from the viewer's vision. There is only a soft light and the smoke wafting from her smoking which really stand out in lighter hues, giving it a somewhat unfinished aspect.
Cyberpunk AU: Trixie and Gilda sit together. Gilda is wearing headphones a size too small and listening to a cassette tape provided by Trixie, who is boasting about them next to her. Trixie looks smug, leaning back on a hoof and pointing at her chest with the other, while Gilda sits coiled on herself and is focused on what she can hear. Thee beat of her tail betrays that she enjoys what she is listening to.
An anthro gerbil, wearing a black hoodie and beanie, jeans and a yellow bag, walks on the edge of the sidewalk, balancing herself out with her arms and her tail. There is a puddle of water on the road by her, and some fallen leaves litter the ground around her.
Gilda the griffoness (MLP) is sitting on the edge of a metal platform and eating fast food. She has a happy expression on her face as she looks at the fry that she's holding up in front of her mouth. In keeping with the cyberpunk AU, she is wearing a grey hoodie with purple highlights and a red patch, as well as a wonderbolt-themed jacket. Her left claw and wing have been replaced by prosthetic, much like the back of her skull.
A kobold kneels in front of a cut stone, painting a dragon onto it in red with his fingers. He is yellow, with blue eyes, and dressed in a colorful tunic and copper jewelry. Behind him stretches an expanse of jungle bordered by the steps of a temple to his right, and a large fortress overlooking a village to his left. There is another stone, finished and decorated, to his right, where a dragon can be seen holding the sun and overlooking a large amount of text in some unknown language. Offerings have been deposited there.

In front of him, a picture of a sunrise, with purplish clouds, has been painted on the wall, and he appears as if embracing the sun in the picture. Above it, the words "make your own damn sunlight" have been written.
An anthro rat, wearing everyday clothes and glasses, stands hunched over, struggling to tug out of his mouth a dark, cloudy form that seeps out around him and invades the canvas. Two words in french are inscribed on it, "idées noires" : dark thoughts.

Several trophies of teeth or fur are also worn as trophies. He bears various objects at his belt, including a gladius. The shield that he holds is tall and hexagonal.
An anthro rat sits in a blank void, half-curled on himself and pensive, a bag at his side. His body is heavily shaded. Behind his head, the void appears cracked like glass, revealing a pitch black abyss which connects to his head and the shadows, as if emanating from him.

He has his head turned to the side and is watching with some interest the autumn leaves blowing in the wind around him as he passes. The leaves are the only colored items on the picture, everything else being some shade of gray.

In the style of a classic propaganda poster, space kobold poses looking at the viewer. He holds a mug in which a water bottle is sitting, and gives the viewer a thumbs up. Text around him reminds the viewer: "Remember... it's not just coffee in the morning! Space kobold says... 'in the morning, I'm hydrating!'. Space scrap recovery agency."

Behind him, broken remains are a testament to past mistakes and squandered possibilities.
