Dear Mr Rodda, I am a constituent of yours, and I voted for you in the general election past, 2024. I write to you with concern about the recent Supreme Court decision and the initial guidance issued by the EHRC. The decision leaves ambiguity around whether transgender people have access to basic public facilities such as toilets. Such a situation is untenable and unnecessary – the status quo ante was perfectly workable and the exclusion which would be required is on its face repugnant to me as someone who values a free society. The Equality Act 2010 as currently interpreted under law cannot stand. The law must be amended to clarify that sex equality and gender (including transgender) equality are one and the same. It is your prerogative as a legislator to fix this injustice and prevent vulnerable people being excluded from public life. I trust you will do what is right.
