Design concept for Teddy Altman (aka Hulkling) as a new version of Captain Marvel. The outfit is based on his Hulkling suit, but has a gold Hala star and stripes on the chest, and a purple high collar and mask similar to Mar-Vell's second costume. OK, I can't speak for everyone, but here's what I love about him. Apologies for the ramble. When you first see Cyclops, he might come off as an arrogant, right-angle, fun-stomper. The movies and parts of the animated show usually kept him at this level. But what I truly love about the character is that he's one of Marvel's best examples of overcoming adversity. Simply put, he cannot control his power. He is a monster. The world has a point in fearing him. His eyes shoot death-beams 24/7. That is terrifying. But someone took a chance on him. A stranger found him in his distress, looked past his pain, and saw that there was something special inside him. Scott found a cause. And Scott devoted his life to it. But still... you're a monster. Look at the other original X-Men. One has amazing ice powers. Another is a genius. This super-rich, handsome guy is flat-out called 'Angel'... and you can't even look at someone without killing them. They don't have to worry about that. Imagine how bottled up, repressed, and lonely that would make you... And then you meet a girl who looks past your trauma and sees something special inside you. Jean finds Scott. Scott finds Jean. Nothing else matters. As a lanky, repressed, socially detached kid with glasses growing up, I gravitated more to this vulnerable side of Cyclops. And I like his work ethic. He forces himself to keep things under control. He works at it every day. He is not the most powerful super hero... but I'd argue that Scott Summers works harder than anyone else. And then there's this GUY. This cigar-smoking, beer-swigging Canadian who thinks he's cooler than everyone just swaggers in. Obviously, they don't get along. What a great team though. I've always like the dual jealousy between Scott and Logan. They both kind of wish they were the other person. They're both way more insecure with themselves than they'd like to admit.
