AI Overview says "At any given time, YouTube has a large and dynamic audience, with approximately *2.253 billion active monthly users worldwide.*" This sentence doesn't make sense. "at any given time" and "monthly active users" are contradictory terms. I want to know how many people are watching YouTube at this very moment. But 'active monthly users' is a hugely inflated number compared to how many people are looking at the site right now. This might seem small, but this kind of grammatical error is not uncommon in AI generated text. It feels fine when you're reading it, because a large language model is just trying to calculate the next word in the sentence based off frequency of use. it is not considering context, it's ad-libbing one word at a time. And because it's pulling from numerous sources, it mashes up numbers to an average, rather than trying to determine which source is the most accurate. LLMs will get better at this over time. Certain models can show a 'chain of reasoning,' to explain how an AI settled on a response.
