I can't speak for the maintainers, but I'm pretty sure if you disallowed it people would just not disclose that they use AI and send the submissions anyway. This way, it can be disclosed and then scrutinized appropriately, instead of every contribution being suspect.
Yeah I don't know what I expected tbh 😐 it just leaves a bitter taste
