Known as a "Blue Moon" it is a reasonably rare event that occurs approx every 2.5 years. The term was first used in this context in 1988. Whereas the common saying “Once in a Blue Moon” has been used for hundreds of years! 🔭

It was a micromoon too, though plenty bright from our perspective. “NASA says Saturday night’s micromoon will be the farthest, smallest, and dimmest Moon this year.”
We took a drive out to North Bend, WA last night to view this gorgeous full blue moon! Initially hidden behind Mount Si, the moon then worked its way gently into the sky. On drive back, moon was playing hide and seek as it parkour’d across a patch of fluffy clouds. Jupiter and Venus too.
