Another day passes. It’s been a month now since Alphinaud and Alisaie left to go back to Garlemald. Flint found himself looking at the setting sun on the coast. The sun always reminded him of Alisaie - Fiery and bright. She brought light and joy into his life. He could only hope the twins were doing well on their current mission. Although he didn’t necessarily envy being in Garlemald to the beautiful skies of Tural - he definitely found comfort in knowing that he and Alisaie were still under the same sky and the same sun.
While the Scion’s mission had brought them to the cobblestone streets of Old Sharlayan, Flint and Alisaie enjoyed their first night together by taking a short walk in the light snowfall. When they settled on a small cliffside to rest, Flint outstretched his arm to bring the two closer before he spoke. “As a kid in Northern Thanalan we never got a lot of snow, given it’s a desert and all. But one night, it had gotten so cold I saw the smallest bit of snow for the first time! I remember sitting out there just like this and watching it fall. It melted the moment it hit the ground, but it was so exciting to me nonetheless...” With a small chuckle, Alisaie nestled in closer.
Before their trip to Tural - Flint and Alisaie spent extensive time in the Eorzean city-states, engaging in local activities ranging from perusing the local shops to assisting the botanist of Gridania. Since Flint was still recovering from his fight with Zenos, Alisaie opted to help him with his fishing endeavors as well...
It was that time of the week again. The clanging and clattering of steel against steel was all that could be heard for malms. While the other Scions relaxed with some tacos and drinks, Alisaie and Flint practiced their combat training right on schedule. If it were up to Flint, however, they’d both have skipped this session in favor of slacking off with the rest of them, but Alisaie had other plans.
“I..can’t believe you’ve been here for a year...” he sighed as he held her. For Flint it had been, what? A few days at best? But considering the state of her and the rest of his friends’ physical bodies... “I know. To be honest, it feels like it’s been even longer,” Alisaie pulled herself away slightly to meet Flint’s gaze, “I’ve missed you quite a bit, you know? It’s been...difficult to say the least.” Flint smiled, “Tesleen says you’ve been talking her ear off about me...” With that, she released herself from his grip and scoffed, face red with embarrassment, “I have not been! I mean I’ve talked about you, of course, but ‘talking her ear off”?! How dare she-” Flint could only laugh at her response, it was always fun pushing her buttons. Playfulness aside, his heart felt full knowing she was safe. “I’m glad I found you,” he says sheepishly. Alisaie sighed in defeat, snapping herself out of her fury. “As am I...”
“Thank you for meeting me here again,” Alisaie spoke quietly as she stood next to Flint, overlooking the vast landscape of The Burning Wall. “You hardly have to thank me - it’s practically a tradition of ours,” He smiled down to her with a laugh. “Well I’ll thank you anyway. For being here now, and for being here then. Thank you.” “Of course,” He couldn’t help but pull her into a one-armed hug, “Can you believe how long it's been since we first journeyed here? We’ve come so far...you’ve come so far.”
As Flint and Alisaie sat comfortably in the warmth of the Waking Sands, the two reminisced about their first time meeting. What Flint wasn’t expecting was to be challenged on the facts. “Does that technically count?” Alisaie exclaimed, “I mean, we didn’t even exchange words on that chocobo carriage in Thanalan...” She was clearly wanting a more grandiose memory to signify such an important meeting in her life. Flint could only laugh, “It’s the first time we ever met! If I recall we DID, in fact, exchange words.” “Simple pleasantries hardly count....” Alisaie sighed.
