this old IBM creed won’t hold for AI, not that it shouldn’t, but there are many malincentives afoot: 1. Just as is the case for specialist bodies, AI will be better equipped to do things humans can’t -- there’ll be an incentive to accede more control to AI. 2. It’s a great way for authorities to further insulate themselves from blame and accountability (these applies to many people generally too, of course) 3. People are lazy and don’t want to make decisions. The reason it has held to the extent it has pre-AI had less to do with ethical concern, in my opinion, and was more because computers could not make effective decisions.

lots of foreign investors in American equity --> demand for said-equity can make value go up beyond the usual fundamentals of the company it corresponds to --> American companies more focused on stock valuation --> less focus on producing goods and services --> foreign holders receive dividends/buyback proceeds/realized capital gains/etc., giving them dollar-denominated claims on American output --> used to purchase American goods/services/assets --> if financial claims on American output become unmoored from actual growth in goods/services/resources, everything becomes more expensive.
