The Soka Gakkai is a global community-based Buddhist organization that promotes peace, culture and education centered on respect for the dignity of life.

Based on Buddhist respect for the dignity of life, SGI has consistently warned that AWS reduce those subjected to attack to mere “data.” As early as 2014, SGI President @daisakuikeda_of called for regulation of autonomous weapons, saying they have no conscience. SGI has been part of the Stop Killer Robots coalition since 2018.
🆕 News: From June 14 to 17, the 2026 World Youth Development Forum, co-organized by the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF), the United Nations Development System in China, and the World Youth Development Forum Organizing Committee, was held in Wuhan, China. At the invitation of the ACYF, Soka Gakkai representatives attended the forum, which brought together some 500 young people from around 120 countries. On July 1, Hiroki Nagano, Director General of the Bureau of Communications and Public Affairs, and other Soka Gakkai representatives visited the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Japan, presenting a donation pledge certificate to H.E. The program is part of the broader CoP4GE Initiative that emerged from discussions at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. In collaboration with UN Women and other partners, the pilot program will provide training to empower participants to promote the culture of peace within their communities and beyond. The event promoted disaster preparedness and awareness through a variety of programs including music performances, poetry readings, and a presentation of findings from a disaster awareness survey. Miyagi Governor Yoshihiro Murai attended, and a message was delivered by Yuki Matsuoka, Head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Kobe Office in Japan.
