Story mode for newcomers is a smart angle, and the art looks adorable. Going in. We hit the same problem but I went a different route: in my game, solo stays the technical bullet hell, but co-op (2-4 players) is the easier and more fun way in for newcomers. Different philosophies for the same wall.
