Many people do their Christmas shop without a car - this might be personal preference as walking/cycling/Metro etc are nice ways to shop. But 37% of households in Newcastle have no choice. Councillors should know these stats.

30% of households in Gateshead as a whole and 20% in Low Fell don't have a car. Maybe the councillor could speak to some of those people and find out how they shop. I'd guess however they do it, it's made harder by people in cars.
