Last week I successfully located an obscure monument to a Japanese fighter pilot who crashed in the hills of Tainan during a training exercise in 1941. Three generations of a local Taiwanese family have taken care of it ever since, but there's no clear path to the site, nor marker on Google Maps.

More information can be found in the original blog post that alerted me to the existence of this monument. It also includes transcriptions. It's also a somewhat uncommon example of an original Japanese colonial era monument that wasn't defaced or repurposed. blog.udn.com/tnwinsto/181...
