Here we see a donut dipped in chocolate frosting that has fallen on sidewalk cement. Likely something preboxed due to its mechanically formed circular shape and even application of icing. I’d suspect Entenmanns or something similar. The manufactured quality of the donut contrasts with the grit and grey multiracial sidewalk it rests on. Both manmade yet with oppositional aesthetic goals The donut has at least 3 bites taken from it, with a few indents in the top casually alluding to having fallen from the owners hand onto the ground with a dissatisfying thump. A browned, crunched up partial leaf sits just on the left edge of the frame, reminding us that this snowless New York winter ushers in more erratic climate experiences to come.

This almost monochromatic abstract accident of dropped toast may cause the viewer to ponder the many ways we transform earthly items into energy, and how sad whoever dropped a key part of their breakfast may feel as they move through their day with slightly less gas in the tank.

The muffin once belonged to an AD, or assistant director, who snagged it from craft services just before rolling began on a take. When the AD noticed the PA taking a picture of the muffin she left behind, she shooed her away and told her to get back to work before throwing it away. The taste and quality of the muffin remains unclear to this day.
