I drive along a shrouded quayside. I pass boats. Cranes. Fisheries. Strangers, looking for the heart of Saturday night. I stir to glimpse the vitality spilling from lantern lit bars, nestled among the anchorages, hidden and out of reach. My newborn stirs in the back, and I am once more white noise.

“Stir” twice in one vignette? Clumsy. Sleep deprivation may turn me to poetic mood but the editor has taken leave of my brain.
