Selfie with one of the larger screens on the concourse level of BC Place behind me. On the screen are a couple of Swiss national team players enjoying the win. Spectators from inside the lower bowl have begun filing out, hardly anyone wearing either team’s kit. My facial expression is part incredulous, part joy, my eyes have very little idea where the eye of the camera is, I am wearing my uniform ball cap, bright yellow-lime t-shirt, an orange multilingual circular pin badge, the band of my ID lanyard around my neck, and you can see the black strap of my bag on my left shoulder. Around my left ear you can see some of my brown hair has escaped the ball cap as it curls shell-like above the earlobe. A very warm day, my face is flushed, and I am feeling a tiny bit happy.

In the foreground a little patch of what I think are lilies of the valley flowers, in an area where wood chips cover the ground. Towards the back right, another grouping of the same plant, with a smaller one even further into the background. This micro-clearing is semi-enclosed by lush green ferns. It’s 10am in the morning on the second-last day of February, 2026, where I also spotted budding cherry blossoms on trees around the neighbourhood.
Our VERY fluffy Toby, our two-year-old male tabby, is playing with his brother from a different mother, who has managed to flip a box over on top of himself and is playing “Turtle”. Toby has approached the box from the right, crouching with his forepaws reaching under the box, with his hindquarters up and arched. “Downward Cat”, if you will. The box is right up against the back our IKEA Poang chair and is more or less braced against pressure from that direction.
Black and white cat, curled up on a grey plush blanket that is over my uncrossed legs, his shoulder and upper body being supported by my right heel, who actually fell asleep before he had finished cleaning his left foreleg. There’s a little fluff of cardboard stuck to his bottle-brush of a tail. He didn’t get that far in his cleaning.
My somewhat exhausted and happy face is at the bottom left of the image. I have a damp towel with glacier cold water around my neck and sunglasses on. Behind me an alpine meadow leading to the bottom of a small glacier taking up part of the bottom half of a mountain’s rockface. We are in southern Alberta, having parked at Upper Kananaskis Lake and hiked the Rawson Lake Trail on a Goldilocks day of not-too-warm, not-too-sunny day in early July. Took two hours (and hiking poles) for my unfit lungs to get up here.
A black & white cat, perched precariously on the edge of an IKEA Poang footstool, cleaning himself on a sunny Vancouver afternoon. Back and butt are in the foreground, and the very cute and very furry butt is about half an inch over the footstool’s edge. He didn’t fall off, this time.

Early afternoon on a sunny spring day in Vancouver beside Douglas Park. A queue of approx. 70 people are on a sidewalk to the left of the softball diamond waiting to enter the community centre building for a byelection.
A black & white cat on a cuddly charcoal grey blanket on the outstretched legs of one of his humans. Blanket is stretched under each of the photographer’s legs to put some tension and support to the space between the shins where the precious cat is sleeping. Left shin is the pillow and the cat is curled up and snoozing on the blanket, his hind legs pretty much against my feet. There is no snoring; Mikey-moo does not snore.
Two young cats crowd around the faucet of a sink in a small bathroom. The faucet (not fully in picture) is running slightly more than a trickle of cold water that the cats enjoy taking turns drinking from. One is a black & white domestic shorthair, the other a brown & white tabby. They are both super fluffy and don’t even mind getting their paws wet, much. The black & white one will first test the water temperature with his paw, splashing himself (and me a bit). No complaints.

Three different kinds of rock I found in Grotto Canyon. Actual type of rock unknown. There is also an almost petrified piece of wood. Type also unknown, but it’s very smooth!
A creamy looking soup in a soup bowl. Visible are its buttery sheen, the red chili flakes I added, with bits of corn, celery, and onion on top. A silverplated spoon is in the soup, towards the right side of the frame, its plain handle extends past the edge of the rim of the bowl.

On a kitchen corner, a man is tearing a piece of rotisserie chicken into smaller pieces and putting them in his cat’s saucer. But not fast enough for the tabby cat, who is inches away and extending his very white left forepaw towards the saucer. The rotisserie chicken, already missing a few limbs, is in the foreground.
