Can I purchase Steam Gift Cards at retailers? Yes, but only for a limited time. We introduced Steam Gift Cards to retail stores back in 2012, and added the digital program in 2017. Unfortunately, scammers use gift cards from major brands like Steam to take advantage of all people all over the world. As we have continued to put more and more restrictions in place, scammers have adapted. They continue to have an impact on Steam customers and other unsuspecting individuals. So we've made the difficult decision to end the Steam Gift Card program at retail stores. As Steam Gift Cards run out of stock at retail locations, we will not be restocking them. We expect all retailers to be out of stock by the end of 2026. Though we will no longer be selling physical gift cards, you will still have the ability to use your existing gift cards on Steam whenever you choose, subject to local laws.
Seeking Victim Information in Steam Malware Investigation The FBI’s Seattle Division is seeking to identify potential victims installing Steam games embedded with malware. The FBI believes the threat actor primarily targeted users between the timeframe of May 2024 and January 2026. In the investigation, several games have been identified to include, BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse / DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova. If you and/or your minor dependent(s) were victimized from installing one of these games or have information relevant to this investigation, please fill out this short form. If you know of someone else who has possibly been victimized, please encourage them to submit an inquiry to Steam_Malware@fbi.gov.
About the New York Attorney General lawsuit against Valve Dear New York customers of Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2: You may have seen the New York Attorney General recently filed a lawsuit against Valve claiming mystery boxes (like crates, cases, and chests) in some of our games violate New York gambling laws. We don't believe that they do, and were disappointed to see the NYAG make that claim after working to educate them about our virtual items and mystery boxes since they first reached out to us in early 2023. As of January 1 2026, Steam will stop supporting systems running 32-bit versions of Windows. Windows 10 32-bit is the only 32-bit version that is currently supported by Steam and is only in use on 0.01% of systems reported through the Steam Hardware Survey. Windows 10 64-bit will still be supported and 32-bit games will still run. Existing Steam Client installations will continue to function for the near term on Windows 10 32-bit but will no longer receive updates of any kind including security updates. Steam Support will be unable to offer users technical support for issues related to the old operating systems, and Steam will be unable to guarantee continued functionality of Steam on the unsupported operating system versions. To ensure continued updates and compatibility, users should update to a 64-bit version of Windows. This change is required as core features in Steam rely on system drivers and other libraries that are not supported on 32-bit versions of Windows.

You can see if you are out of system or video memory and if those factors are impacting performance as well. The performance monitor looks something like the below at full detail (detail levels, screen position, contrast/saturation, and background opacity are adjustable in Settings->In Game). Team Fortress 2 Mods FAQ Q. Where do I get the TF2 SDK? A. The TF2 SDK is part of the Source SDK 2013, which is available on Github or via Steam . Q. What access does the TF2 SDK have to players item inventories? A. The SDK can access a read-only version of any player's inventory who runs the mod, to get a list of items that the player is allowed to equip. This happens automatically in the default build of the SDK with TF2, but the mod maker will have control over what is actually used in the game. Mods cannot add or remove items from a TF2 player, nor modify any details of an item. A mod can control which items are equipped, have small changes or completely re-imagine what they do within the mod. Q. Can playing a TF2 mod change my inventory or load-out? A. Mods cannot change your loadout, inventory or properties of items in TF2 proper. Q. Can my mod redistribute TF2 game files? A. No. TF2 mods can only redistribute their own game files, and load TF2 content from a local install.

If your game's revenue relies on advertising on other platforms, you will need to find a new monetization model in order to release on Steam. Some options you could consider: Switch your game be a single purchase or make it free to play with microtransactions or additional content as DLC. Q: Does Steam pricing support "paywall" games? A: No. Steam does not support models where a customer is blocked and needs to pay to continue playing. If you would like to have a free demo to show off your game, you're welcome to do so.
