I might even go so far as to say a smart city avoids AI and is careful only to use sensors when they don't compromise privacy...
Seems to me you are describing the difference between the "smart" city (collecting and utilizing information) and the warm, wise, inclusive city (shaped by deep knowledge about people's needs and ways of movement). These two approaches are very different, but not necessarily mutually exclusive.
We are already smart. We just have to embrace it.

When your streets are as welcoming and civilised as this, you can tell that a city has its priorities in the correct order. The Netherlands is healthy, rich and *really* knows how to do urban planning.
I dunno. Looks like they're not contributing to The Economy. Not buying gas. Not paying for parking. Not even paying a monthly subscription to enable features on their bicycles. How is that supposed to make the line go up?

Govts and urban planners need to focus on non-sprawl urban/commercial with community, recreation, culture, local economy considerations, optimal transit options, & 100% waste mgmt systems, w/affordable mid/high-rise housing near amenities/transit. In order to protect farmland & natures habitat.
