Seasonal model by the NWS (CFS.v2) predicts a 3-3.5 degree C surface temperature anomaly developing during winter of 2026-2027 in the Nino3.4 region of the Equatorial Pacific. Anomalies corrected for overall surface warming. Graph depicts the time series of three month mean sea surface temperatures for an ensemble of 40 models initiated with late May 2026 conditions. The lowest member of the ensemble predicts a temperature as large as seen in the recent temperature record.
