A group of prosecco-selling nuns had their vows revoked after the Church deemed their leader "young and too beautiful". Aline Pereira Ghammachi, the former abbess of the Saints Gervasius and Protasius monastery near Venice, appeared on Italian TV to promote its homemade prosecco. Mauro-Giuseppe Lepori, the abbot general of the Cistercian Order, allegedly called the Brazilian nun "too young and beautiful". Older nuns rebelled against her after she discovered that one of them had used the monastery's computer to visit porn sites. They complained to the Pope, saying she had blackmailed her critics and had pulled one of them by the hair. The Church replaced her with an 81-year-old nun. She and five loyal nuns were ex-pelled from the order last month.
