A2: Interesting discussions. *stares* (Note that I did NOT join in, because I KNEW it would be an irresistible distraction. XD) #StetChat

A2: Social media and the many open tabs on my computer screen. #StetChat

A2A: Neverending yard work in the neighborhood. Someone always has a leafblower going or is taking a tree down. I've gotten a lot better at tuning it out. Most of the equipment people use nowadays is not at a pitch that gets painful for me, thankfully. #StatChat

A2 Social media (no offense!) can be a helluva pull, especially if Stuff Is Happening. 🙃 Taking short phone breaks can sometimes defang my urge to scroll. #StetChat

A2. Like others: social media. Environmental noise. Days I look after my 90+yo mom, she keeps the tv on all the time & it's SO LOUD. I usually work until 10 or 11 PM those days to compensate.

A2: My six-year-old. But more often I think it's social media and small tasks I could be doing.

A2: Definitely my child when she’s home. She’s very young so I can’t just tell her to keep herself busy all day long. But I also have ADHD so I have to work around that as well. I recently learned that the combo of noise-canceling headphone and a fidget cube increases my focus a lot. #StetChat

Especially working from home, I'm distracted by everything from texts and news alerts to laundry to cats to hmmmm, what's in the fridge? #StetChat

A2: Noise. I have always been very sensitive to noise! I live in a quiet neighborhood now, but I still wear noise-cancelling headphones. I can’t listen to music, podcasts, etc. while actually editing—too distracting. (But during book design work or project prep…YouTube is on!) #StetChat

A2... My biggest distraction is almost always social media.

A2: Neighborhood noise—so many leaf blowers and lawnmowers. But also family. I'm a co-caregiver for my dad, who has Alzheimer's. That takes attention and time. And #StetPets need time and love too. #StetChat

A2: Virtuous answer: I'm an overinvested volunteer at my church, and sometimes there are lots of Emails. 😇 Frivolous answer: Sometimes my favorite bands are on tour and there are lots of pictures and videos. 😍 #StetChat

1st place: my phone. 90% of my social circle lives far away, so when I need to really focus, I keep my phone off my desk to avoid messages/social media/calls. 2nd place: emails. I'm always excited to get new msgs, but it pulls at my focus until I reply. (Gotta silence the self-nagging!) #StetChat

A2: The Internet/Web. Which is also the thing that allows me to get work done in the first place, so there's a fundamental tension there.
