A6A: Trying to ignore the distraction and power through it doesn't work for me. It'll just keep nagging at me. No, I can't rise above my animal desires for that shiny object I HAVE TO have right now. #StetChat

A6: “Just do it.” Or any other kind of pep talk. It just won’t work. Sometimes scenery changes will work really well, other times they just introduce more distractions. Oops. I also thought working through heavy rain would be relaxing, but turns out that’s too relaxing. 🤣 #StetChat

A. Any music, voices—I can't. I don't know why, but my brain cannot process them and editing at the same time. I need silence. It's the only thing that works for me. Also, I have tried many time to try to manage not getting distracted by the Intewebz. To no avail. I need it for fact checking.

A6: Adding “write questions for and host #StetChat every two weeks” to my schedule has uhhhhh been a distraction LOL. It’s so fun!!! I’m really enjoying it. But it is a shiny new thing to play with, and I definitely struggled with ~working on paid work~ the first few weeks after we launched!

A6. I don't get distracted really badly. However, I tried a suggestion from online; suggested treating yourself every time you got to a certain point. But I just realized that I'm an adult, and I can treat myself no matter what.... And that's how I ended up buying myself Starbucks 5 days in a row.

A6: Silence/"peace and quiet." I have tinnitus: it has to be drowned out by something.

A6: Music with lyrics does not help when you're trying to do word-based tasks. Cats walking across your keyboard definitely won't help, even if they mean well. Dogs nudging your elbow can cause whole pages to disappear and make you cry. #StetChat

Blocking websites/internet. I often need it to look something up. (An app that tells me how much time I spend on certain websites each day helped more - I used to make it a goal to log more hours editing than I spent on Twitter.)

A6: Time blocking has never worked for me - the first time there's a distraction, oops, that's it for the time block. I do a lot better if I set time goals for the day but can work whenever. #StetChat

A6. Well... everything that's worked has also failed at least once! 🫠 So it's an ever-evolving journey to figure out what the best solution for focus is on any given day! (My funny one-time solution: 1 chocolate chip per sentence during a portion of an LE. That was a rough day...😅) #StetChat

A6: Podcasts are fine for cleaning and data processing, but completely incompatible with editing, at least in my experience. #StetChat
