Moistcritical looking at Splatoon 3 saying "Whew! So that's what battles are like!" after his very first Splatoon 3 game got cancelled for a disconnection.
After watching this video, I've started to think a lot about the past almost 4 years with this game and can't stop but being sad about how hard Nintendo screwed up this game in hindsight. Sure, the game is super popular in JP but this game had HYPE. Not just in JP, all around the globe. The hype apparently still lives in JP but it's dead everywhere else. And they've made soooooo many mistakes along the way. It feels like this game is a Splatoon 4 tech demo and they're just throwing random stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Hopefully the stuff which doesn't stick (aka 90% of their changes) will not be in Splatoon 4. - Still peer 2 peer but MUCH worse than in Splatoon 2. I recall that legendary clip of moistcritical where he plays his very first turf war game with the new player tag, someone dcs and he gets sent back to the lobby where the game shows him a pop up of "WOAH TURF WAR CAN BE PRETTY INTENSE!!!". It took them ages to get the lag fixed at least a bit and still this game feels so much more laggy than I remember in Splatoon 2. I think they've tried to "fix" the lag issues by keeping players connected NO MATTER WHAT where in Splatoon 2, players with very bad connection would simply disconnect. - They've never realized their mistakes about the terrible map layouts in this game. Especially the turf war community died because with small hallway maps, turf games will end in Spawncamping most of the time. You can't just go somewhere else where the enemies aren't to paint the ground a bit when that somewhere else does not exist. - Their pysics engine felt soooo instable at the start. Remember sloshing mashine being able to hit indirects through walls?

A video in which strohkoenig plays the third reef lux kit (with torpedo and booyah bomb) and throws a booyah bomb towards two opponents at the same time as one of them uses a big bubbler. Due to lag, the booyah bomb ball seemingly falls of the map but was activated by the bubbler on their screen, so that it looks like strohkoenig got two splats from nothing.

The content of the comment is as follows: I would love them to create a role-based weapon system where you have roles with given subs + specials specifically picked for the role + main weapons get assigned to one role. The role based approach would allow them to balance main weapons and make a role-based, much more balanced matchmaking. The matchmaking would become incredibly awesome if they simply provided Slayer, Support, Control, Skirmisher, Anchor and Useless (=bad weapons) roles. Then, divide each role into paint and no paint weapons. For matchmaking: allow only reasonable comps (for example 2x slayer, 1x support, 1x anchor vs. 1x slayer, 1x control, 1x support, 1x anchor) and make sure that both teams have the same amount of well-paint weapons on their side. For weapon balancing, they could balance main weapons in a role based on the average strength of weapons in that role rather than somehow trying to take single weapons as base for balancing (looking at you, splattershot!!). For the burst bomb and tristrike issues, they could make sub weapon ink consumption depend on the main weapon (like they changed pts to depend on the main instead of the special), I think this would be enough to create a well balanced game. The only other thing I would add would be a +10 or +20 pts if you pick certain sub weapons. For example: Slosher (Toxic Mist, Zooka) -> 200 pts Slosher (Splat Bomb, Zooka) -> 210 pts Slosher (Fizzy, Zooka) -> 220 pts Slosher (Burst Bomb) -> 65% Splash (Burst Bomb) -> 45% S-Blast (Burst Bomb) -> 50% It would make the balancing simple and effective, which is all they would need for a well-balanced game and they could always easily change pts and ink consumption values should they do actual (main/sub/special) weapon changes like damage, radius and so on.
