within the ephemeral space that the mothercrystal inhabits, a massive dragon approaches an angel in resplendant white. he is so much larger tgan even this figure, even this crystal, maybe he can eat it for its aether and run - but he listens. her voice is soft with the grit of grief. she says his coming was fortold, and his journey is at a successful end

a snippet from the first fic in the link series. it reads: All of the old money families in Ishgard have had ties to magic for centuries. It is how they have been so able to maintain power over that time, either through passing down knowledge or innate ability. The Durendaires are diviners who view and twist the strings of fate with their various tools. The Haillenartes are witches, soft-hearted ritualists with ties to nature, strongest with the aid of their familiars. Tedalgrinche's own family are summoners, by-the-book casters who banish and bind all sorts of preternatural creatures to their will. Finally, there was the Fortemps family, who act as channelers for the same entities that the Dzemaels have historically erradicated. The Fortemps' gift is the least teachable. Sensitivity to other planes is something a person either has or doesn't. Artoirel is currently the foremost practitioner, with a combination of talent, training, and supressible personality that makes him uniquely able to be influenced by the beyond. With his half-brother dead, his father retired, his youngest brother not caring to cultivate his already limited ability, and the branch families diminishing in potential, there was no greater person Tedalgrinche could turn to (even if he hadn't planned on going anyways to see how terribly Stephanivien was doing).

moku, a hrothgar who is also at heart a lizard. she is happily telling mama ja that she will solve shard travel if only to make sure that sweet woman gets grandkids from her loser son (/affectionate)
a snippet from a WIP. it reads: Lucia tries her best to explain her friend's logic. There is some small sense to it, until she mentions the word Artoirel was planning how to avoid: heresy. A step beyond that, a woman Artoirel always saw as level-headed then speaks of invading the vault to retrieve Aymeric. A hand goes to his mouth to keep himself quiet. Lucia informs the foreigners on the long held rumors of Aymeric's parentage, hoping that family would do anything to protect him from being hurt, and that is the last straw. Artoirel is certain the man will die before the day is out if no one does anything. The dragoon - gods above, the azure dragoon - says he will lead the charge. Artoirel's far too trusting and far too prone to risk brother joins in this suicide plot. Artoirel is not certain he believes Alphinaud's story at all, but too much is at risk for him not to act. A string of slaughters in the Vault will despoil sacred ground, not to mention all the allies Artoirel has made in the clergy in his lifetime of service that would be put at risk. Aymeric's death would cause rioting in the streets with his popularity, something they certainly cannot afford in these tumultuous hours. Haurchefant is much too willing to sacrifice himself for a cause he knew nothing of an hour ago, and it is Artoirel's responsibility to keep him safe (and it would look great if he beat Haurchefant to the punch in this rescue). He leaves out the back hallway and heads straight for the Vault.

moku is facing some roe sized guy wearing the star admiral set who is named "Dark Vizier?". he is saying "Pshhh... Shkohhh... 'Tis I the Dark Vizer! Challenge me if you dare, my cild, but know this: you underestimate the power of... The Darkness."
in the lead up to the next quest, we have the chance to turn down mumukko again. in response to her assuming that you are ready and able to help, you can say either "I know I needn't answer, but indeed I do!" or "Hm, then perhaps I needn't answer.".
dylise, an elezen (sharlayan?) woman who has been around for most of the cosmic exploration quests. in the last main oizys quest, she was seen dramatically tripping and falling on her face, and we learn in this side quest that is because she maybe hasn't slept since arriving on oizys. in this screenshot she is pondering and saying: "I may have forgone sleep these past three - or is it five? - nights, but I had little choice. It's been one fascinating finding after another."
for all the mumukko quests, she gives you three chances to say no to the quest before deciding you're going to do it anyways <3 in this first option, mumukko asks if you're available, and you can answer either "For you? Always." or "...You'll never take me alive.".
debroye, qih, and t'laqa. laqa is thinking as he says: "And rest assured that those absent today are just as dedicated to the cause. Their work will call them to visit sooner or later."
