For ten years now I've hosted a #PiHole DNS server at home, blocking nearly all web and app ads at the network level. It blocks 1.6 million known ad/spam hosts, accounting for 34% of all requests from devices on our home network. Runs incredibly smoothly on a Raspberry Pi (2015 B).

To start blocking, run your own pi-hole (pi-hole.net), or config your devices to use Control D's free ad-block DNS servers (controld.com/free-dns).
