Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now. A new Mississippi law requires us to implement age verification for all users before they can access Bluesky. We think this law creates challenges that go beyond its child safety goals, and creates significant barriers that limit free speech and disproportionately harm smaller platforms and emerging technologies. As a small team, we cannot justify building the expensive infrastructure this requirement demands while legal challenges to this law are pending. For now, we have made the difficult decision to block access to Bluesky in the state of Mississippi. To learn more, read our blog post.
We discuss how people are noticing a disconnect between what they see online and what they hear from news and politicians. Many don't trust any source when information conflicts, with traditional news media and online content both viewed skeptically. Younger adults are more trusting of online content, while Democrats tend to lean more towards traditional news. However, a significant portion across political lines say online content has made them trust traditional news less.

Mississippi lawmakers introduced a bill to pay people $1,000 to turn in undocumented immigrants. House Bill 1484 would create a certified bounty hunter program because apparently the state has money for snitches but not for things like fully funding or public education. The DeSoto County DA swears that this will be something that will assist law enforcement and protect citizens, but we all know what this means. It's just going to be open season for racial profiling. If you're brown, have an accent, suddenly you're a paycheck for someone. And for what? To push Trump's anti-immigrant agenda while also using our tax dollars to fund it. Mississippi can't afford Medicaid expansion, but it can cash incentives for wannabe vigilantes? This is dangerous, it's racist, and it needs to be shut down. and raise hell!

You have male dominated legislatures in Mississippi and all over the country that pass laws that dictate what a woman can and can not do with her body. I was raised by strong parents that preached equality for all. My mother and my father both believe in equal rights for women. One of the reasons why this legislation is so important is that with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it has not only impacted women's ability to get abortion care but it has also affected women's ability to access basic gynecological care that includes contraceptive care. When a bill has been filed that would regulate what a man is able to do with his own body in his own home, it suddenly has people in an uproar. I am trying to figure out when it isn't okay for the government to dictate what you do in the privacy of your own home, apparently it is when the laws regulate men. The reactions from some quarters relating to my bill, indicates that men are not held to the same standard when it comes to the intrusion into their personal private affairs as women have been held to with the reversal of Roe vs. Wade. It is rich that the landmark Supreme Court decision of Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization began it all, here, in the State of Mississippi. So I had to run and tell you guys once I saw this. Introducing Senate Bill 2319. Itā€™s also known as the Contraception Begins at Erection Act. Yep, you heard that right. Under this bill, it would be illegal for a man to discharge genetic material unless it's with the intent to fertilize an embryo. Now the fines, they start at $1,000 for the first offense, 5,000 for the second, and by the third time, you're up to $10,000. Now obviously this bill is not gonna pass, especially in a state like Mississippi, but let's be real, Republicans want to legislate what people with uteruses do with their bodies. So let's see how they feel when these types of laws apply to them and their bodies. You know, everyone's for limited government when it comes to men and corporations, but kudos to Senator Blackmon for making this point.

Trump has ordered that all federal government agencies put staff that were hired or working under DEI efforts, I put them on administrative leave. So basically putting them on hold for the rest of the month so they can figure out how to actually legally fire people based on their skin color or sexuality or whatever. Basically if they're not a straight white male, your job is in jeopardy. On top of that, he also rolled back 1965 executive order banning discrimination in federal contracts. So you know, just rolling back decades of progress, completely normal presidential behavior. This really is not about fairness. This is about making sure that people in power stay white, male, and loyal. And if you think this stops with the federal government, look at my state Mississippi. They're trying to get this on the state level too.

STATEMENT ON ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE Fifty-two years ago today, the Supreme Court affirmed the essential, fundamental right for women to make decisions about their own bodies. Roe v. Wade transformed women's lives and gave them power over their futures. Tragically, decades after the right to a safe and legal abortion was recognized, Donald Trump ripped that power away from millions of women in getting Roe v. Wade overturned, and millions of Americans were stripped of their health care, autonomy, and freedoms. Donald Trump appointed three justices intent on overturning Roe, and he has proudly bragged about 'killing Roe v. Wade.' His crusade against reproductive freedoms has empowered Republicans nationwide to implement extreme, life-threatening abortion bans. With Donald Trump back in the Oval Office and Republicans holding the majority in Congress, Republicans are one step closer to a national abortion ban. We're living in a world where our daughters have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers did. I got goodies! I wanted something that I could use for work. Put my laptop in. Isn't it gorgeous? You can have the flaps up or down. It's pretty neat. The inside of the bag is really cool. Lots of space in here. Fully lined. You got a pocket here. You got a zippered pocket here. It's a good spacious bag. It should be able to fit my laptop. You can snap those together and have a more compact bag. Overall, I'm very, very satisfied. I think it's really cute.
So it looks like TikTok has just gone straight full-on fascist at this point. They're censoring people, they are limiting what you can search for, and they're limiting what you can comment on different posts. Same with Instagram, same with threads. So I feel like I need to just leave those platforms and the next four years is not going to be the time that we need to be censored. We need to be able to organize and we need to be able to get messages out there. So with that, I feel like I'm going to start posting more short form videos on Blue Sky, also on my sub stack.
