It stinks of rotten eggs once it’s washed up and begins decomposing and it can cause respiratory problems. But it also helps support marine life in the ocean. Link in the first comment.

Wait until Red Tide hits the west coast. Dead fish floating sideways, a health hazard, smells 1-2 miles inland, lion fish polluting Gulf of Mexico, oil spills, sewage waste escaping into the Gulf, standing water seeping into our springs and the beat goes on. What else is new?
When I was a child every time we went to the beach in Florida there was always a ton of seaweed we had to cross to get into the water or back to our towels
