Commentary: Another time-travel fix-it, Jayce is going THROUGH IT and, being in early s1, Viktor is trying to figure out Jayce’s backstory. Unfortunately on indefinite hiatus; you should read it anyway.

Feat. Blitzcrank, Jinx, unresolved trauma and a closer-to-LoL Machine Herald. Commentary: Only one chapter, but a very interesting start. Jayce with PTSD, Viktor still wrestling with his perfectionism, and the beginnings of a plot!
Darling, I would do it again by FourthAxis || M | Kudos: 100-300 | WIP: 49k | Updated: Aug 2025 Relevant Tags: Slow Burn, Arcane Herald Viktor, Horror The shape of a man takes a familiar form the closer he gets, but also foreign in his haggard state. And there is a touch of death to him, a smell of decay only the arcane can bring upon a person, and yet the first words out of his mouth are, “Viktor, are you okay?” If Viktor could get his construct to laugh, he would probably be laughing now, the miserable kind that might bring with itself tears. But he doesn’t remember how to do any of that. — OR: The arcane chews them up and spits them out somewhere unknown and far away from home. Jayce is dying and Viktor can’t let that happen, but there are significant obstacles in his way. One, his power is diminished. Two, his touch is making Jayce’s condition worse. Three, there’s something wrong with him, too. Commentary: There’s not a lot of fics exploring Jayce’s physical health after all the Arcane corruption, which I appreciate in this fic, but my main joy comes from the Viktor characterization and its interpretation the hexcore’s influence on his actions (spoiler: brainwashing is my least favourite reason for villainy)

Commentary: This is a cute and fluffy adventure fic that includes Jayce and Viktor dealing with some of their s2 (and normal backstory) trauma. There’s also a very funny section regarding how people perceive Jayce and Viktor post-canon that I really enjoyed.

Commentary: An incredible Viktor character study post-canon, featuring Arcane Herald Viktor. I like that he hasn’t shed all of his perfectionism.

It creeps and crawls on all fours, hides in the shadows and under the bed. Can’t be found when searched, can’t be stopped when appeared – only studied in between when it does rear its head, its hands tightening around throat. Commentary: a wonderful vignette of Jayce and Viktor’s life after the Arcane spat them out into our world (kind of). A unique premise and some nice, subtle characterization. This author wrote a lot of fics immediately post-finale and I don’t want them to be buried, so please also check out their profile!

Not going to spoiler too much, but the mage Jayce concept - his powers and how they contrast with Viktor’s - is inspired.

After all that happened, Jayce struggles with his survival, Viktor’s survival as nothing but an astral ghost, the question on how to continue a life (and love) he never expected to have — and also, building a robot body. Commentary: Another fun and unique take of the Jayce-and-Viktor revive post-canon fic. Here, Viktor is a ghost and we get to see Jayce and Viktor do science! in Piltover again. And Jayce gets to stay with his mom! This fic and the previous three all explore how Piltover would see Jayce (and Viktor) post-war, which is always slightly different per author and it’s always fascinating to see what changes and what stays the same.

Commentary: This writer consistently writes absolute bangers. A very unique post-canon AU where Jayce stays in Piltover and Viktor is … dead? This has Jayce angst, Jayce and Vi friendship, and fun hexclaw antics.

Science and magic meet in startling ways, the dead rise, and foreign political powers threaten to undermine the work done to recover from the battle three decades prior. Veteran champions struggle to protect the city's foundations while young, upstart rebels fight to determine its future. The waters are rising, the forests are evolving, and the peoples of Runeterra are finding new ways to make old mistakes. And, in the middle of it all, Jayce and Viktor figure out how to be. Commentary: I lost this for so long and I'm so happy I found it (from someone else reccing the fic for this event!) The author themself said that this was a "a Jayce/Viktor fic masquerading as an exploration into the direction that Piltover and Zaun would head after the close of the series" and they're not exaggerating. Amazing worldbuilding of post-Arcane Piltover and Zaun, a great political plot, Jayce dealing with the idolatry after the final battle and his new disability, Viktor dealing with the consequences of his actions and his new Arcane Herald body... this fic is amazing, you need to read it.

She insists on bringing the possibly radioactive ancient mages back to her home in the Freljord. Because there's something pulling Elora towards Mel, who speaks as if they already know each other. It's probably the same thing that pushes Jayce towards a professor called Viktor. Or: Mel and Jayce meet the reincarnations of Elora and Viktor and get a second chance, centuries after the events of Arcane s02e09. Commentary: technically more of a post-canon AU, but most of my recs are going to be that anyway and I wanted to rec this earlier in the week because I really love it. Jayvik and Melora, with Jayce & Mel friendship. They get punted forward 400 years and have to deal with the consequences. Lots of Mel character exploration and Jayce has magic! An incredibly unique concept; Elora is a historian here, so there’s also an element of Mel and Jayce reciting their history to her that I love.

Seven weeks after the war ends, he resumes his duties as Councilor, tasked with maintaining the fragile peace between the twin cities. But Jayce is spiraling, and his anchor is locked up in Stillwater. Commentary: This is the intense, ultimate Jayce has PTSD fic. And it includes Jayce having problems with food and his hallucinations. And it has a good plot! We get class tensions, Jayce hating being a councilor... read it, it has so much to enjoy.
My Angel by Anonymous || T | Kudos: 500+ | Complete: 27k | Completed: Jul 2025 Relevant Tags: Depression, Jayce Has PTSD, Disabled Jayce, Jayce’s Canonical Suicide Attempt Viktor doesn’t want to be here. It had taken a lot of pleading, losing a bet, and even more pleading before Jayce had managed to drag him to the party, so, yes, of course he’s miserable. Not that Jayce expected him not to be, though, to be fair to his partner. In all his begging he had verbally batted away Viktor’s attempts to put the words you’ll enjoy it when you get there into his mouth with an insistence that he doesn’t even enjoy these evenings much. And that Viktor owes him at least one, please, Vik, even if you hate it. So, Viktor caved. And now he’s here. Hating every boring second. Commentary: I usually point out ways in which fics are unique. This fic is mostly set in S1 and explores the fallout from Ximena saying Jayce wasn’t in his right mind to the Piltover council, and how that might affect the way people look at Hextech and Jayce’s position as (one of) its founders. Very well written, highly recommended.

In a desperate bid to save his partner, Viktor makes a series of shocking discoveries about Jayce’s body and mental state… leading Viktor to believe that *his* Jayce is not what emerged from the Arcane with him. Jayce, struggling with the effects of the Arcane on his mental state, also begins to wonder if he is himself anymore. Commentary: This fic really dives into Jayce and Viktor’s mental state post-canon. It also has some very nice mystery and psychological horror, mostly regarding if their conditions are just PTSD or something more arcane. Warning, though - it's very angsty

He looks right into his eyes, two unblinking sigils of his connection to the arcane. Jayce looks at them like they burn him, like they provide the only semblance of warmth left, like he’ll accept every blister if it means he can get this close. Jayce leans in, his thumb brushing against the cold skin of Viktor’s cheek. “You still have that mole,” Jayce murmurs against him, so close it is almost a kiss. “The one right above your lip.” - After they save the world, Viktor and Jayce unravel. Commentary: This fic gets recommended a lot, for good reason, so all I have to say is: Fuck I Love This So Much

It was something simple, understandable, to draw her into life. To keep her there, maybe. It’s easier sometimes to live for something else, to keep something alive. My garden, Viktor thinks, and strokes Jayce’s hair. — Viktor’s been in Stillwater. It hasn’t been easy on Jayce. + the sequel, so long to this wretched form Commentary: Honestly, sulkybender has a lot of Arcane fics and a special collection of fics where Viktor takes care of Jayce, and you should read them all. This one is my favourite, mostly because it includes Jayce having hallucinations, which is quite rare in post-canon fics. It also includes him seeing visions from the Arcane, which arguably also happened canonically in S2 and I think is a very nice touch (give the boy magic!)

Commentary: I also rec this fic almost every chance I get. It’s amazing. It’s got everything you want from a post-canon fic. Arcane Herald Viktor. Normal purple Viktor. Jayce with a prosthetic and PTSD. Fun and sexy magic shenanigans. Jayce & Ekko friendship. Viktor and Jinx friendship. And, somehow, a scene involving Vander and Jinx that made me tear up.

Long hair, scraggly beard, a small gap in bared teeth, eyes deep and searching. Severe. “I’m Viktor,” he says, once the strong, callused fingers permit him the room to breathe properly. “Who are you?” Commentary: I rec this fic every time I have the chance to and I will not stop now. Jayce is just as wickedly smart and charming and sweet as he is in canon, despite being raised by literal wolves in the wilderness. Also, Viktor and Jayce are just as oblivious to the societal effects of their inventions :’)

I love the way Viktor and Jayce (both of them) are characterized, and there's some Jayce-Ekko friendship! I just love the absolute Situation s2 Jayce is in, but I'm trying not to spoil too much. Anyway, if you want S1 and S2 Viktor to meet, this is for you.

He has seen Jayce die before and had thought himself prepared to see it happen again, but here he is, hesitating, the once familiar sensation of anxiety closing around his throat and rattling through his inhuman lungs, keeping him frozen in place. He’s seen Jayce die before. But never like this. [Viktor, after spending an indiscernible amount of time in the alternate universe, stumbles across a Jayce he doesn’t know what to do with.] Commentary: Probably the only fic of its kind I've seen, with Old Mage Viktor and a S2 Jayce with Hanahaki disease. I love read Old Mage Viktor fics and I love Jayce having a bad time, so this was great!

He wakes up and lives his days on repeat. It's what is best for him, or at least that is what he has been told. All of that changes when he impulsively takes on a new job halfway across the country. Things change even more when Jayce, a newly hired mechanical engineer, meets the director of engineering. The director of engineering looks a lot like his bisexual awakening. Commentary: Love fics that acknowledge Jayce's s2 disability, especially the ones that think about how it would be different in a modern AU. Plus, a long-lost childhood friends plot is always fun. A very intriguing start!

The board resets when he turns away. The spiral becomes a waveform. Expands into a topograph: a mouth. He thinks: The mouth is trying to say something. It’s saying it backward. Commentary: I love space and sci fi and cosmic horror, and as an AU concept it tends to be very rare! This comes very highly recommended. I also don't want to spoil too much, but let's just say the author has immaculately captured the cosmic horror vibe.
Unbreakable Correlation by debwriting || M | Kudos: 300-500 | Complete: 76k | Completed: 11 Apr 2025 (debwriting on Bsky) Relevant Tags: Modern (kinda) AU, AU – College/University, Slow Burn, Mexican Jayce, Class Differences, Permanent Injury It’s the fall of 1961, and Jayce’s return to Piltover Academy is off to a rough start when his grades land him in academic probation. As a final hope, Jayce is placed under the mentorship of his classmate and new roommate, Viktor. Their friendship might save Jayce’s life, but it will also send the two brilliant young men towards a path they likely can’t come back from. Set against the backdrop of a world in great turmoil, across four seasons. A story of friendship, and the blurred lines between love and obsession. Commentary: This fic deserves at least a thousand kudos. Genuinely one of the most amazing fics I’ve read, I literally feel like I’m reading a 60’s novel. It’s also one of the vanishingly few Modern AU fics that actually acknowledge the racism Jayce, Mel, and Caitlyn would face in our world.

He is a child, not yet old enough to be left home alone for extended periods of time, and yet he is handed hammer tongs and placed in front of sweltering heat. It is a long long time before he is able to leave.

Mycelial by Shrikesoup || T | Kudos: 100-300 | WIP: 14k | Updated: Jan 2025 Relevant Tags: AU – Canon Divergence, Circus AU, Disabled Jayce, Not Really Character Death, Suicide Attempt Finding out that the Dean of Piltover’s finest academy is a fan of a traveling circus was not something that Viktor had expected. But all of a sudden, he had come up to Viktor and Sky holding three golden tickets and exclaimed that in celebration of Viktor’s new position, they would all be attending. As he looks up at the noisy tent, he cannot help but feel it’s for everyone’s benefit but his own. Or: Jayce Talis ends his life after the entire world shuns him for his work. Years later, Viktor goes to see the circus and watches a dead man make magic. Commentary: a very unique AU, featuring a Jayce who had given up on his hextech dream but not on magic and a Viktor who hasn't given up on hextech.
