Longer term tools: We've had a lot of users ask about the possibility of tools like Spotify, Signal, What'sApp or other platforms. On March 17, 2026, the Play Age Signals API started rolling out age signals for eligible users in Brazil for requirements under Digital ECA. The API has started returning age signals for eligible users in Texas who created their accounts after May 28, 2026 as part of our compliance efforts for Texas SB2420. Ongoing updates will be provided in advance of age verification bills in other US states.
Update July 8, 2026: We have made an update to comply with Texas's age assurance law and will restrict access to certain content and features for users in Texas under the age of 18.
TL;DR The Explore screen renders the banner unconditionally – visibility is entirely driven by whether a remote config endpoint returns any feeds. That endpoint is a Bluesky-operated Cloudflare Worker (https://live-events.workers.bsky.app/config), and the country-by-country difference you're seeing is decided server-side by that worker (which is not in this repo). There is no country logic anywhere in the app code for this feature. The chain, in code 1. The Explore screen always inserts the banner slot. src/screens/Search/Explore.tsx:727 pushes {type: 'liveEventFeedsBanner'} into the list with no conditions, and it renders ExploreScreenLiveEventFeedsBanner at src/screens/Search/Explore.tsx:1036. 2. The banner renders whatever feeds are in context. src/features/liveEvents/components/ExploreScreenLiveEventFee dsBanner.tsx:10 just maps over useLiveEvents () .feeds — if the array is empty, nothing shows. So "banner or no banner" reduces to "does the feeds array have anything in it." 3. Feeds come from a remote config fetch. src/features/liveEvents/context.tsx:27 does a plain fetch (${LIVE_EVENTS_URL}/config) — no query params, no auth, no locale headers. The URL is defined in src/env/common.ts:140 as https://live-events.workers.bsky.app. It's prefetched at app launch (src/App.tsx:106), refetched every 5 minutes, and on app foreground. 4. The client applies only three filters (src/features/liveEvents/context.tsx:64-86), none of which are geographic: • Feeds flagged preview: true are hidden unless the account is a Bluesky team member (useIsBskyTeam). • Feeds whose titles match the user's muted words are filtered out. • Only the first remaining feed is shown (feeds. slice (0, 1)), unless team member + dev mode.

Two layers Our approach to verification is based on two layers: * verification by organizations, professional groups and networks – media organizations, businesses, universities, political parties, and professional networks, among others, can become verifiers. This means they can verify the accounts of the members of their community. They can also verify other accounts they know to be authentic. * verification through aggregated trust signals – organizations and networks cannot verify everyone. Many people are not affiliated with one and – even if there are dozens or hundreds of trusted verifiers – there is a limit to how much this model can scale. This is where the second layer comes in – multiple signals from a network based on activity, connections and trust could be sufficient evidence of an account's authenticity. We'll be honest here – this layer is harder and we don't yet have a solution for it, but we are committed to expanding the reach of verification.
