Robyn visits Willowvale disguised as one of a troop of showmen whom Jonathon unwittingly persuaded Rose's uncle to allow her to go and see.

The monster created to hunt down any and all descendents of Rose's grandfather comes to the farm. But the Fae who created it didn't realize one of those descendents would end up being half Fae.
Rose's little cousins meet Eryna for the first time and Rose is terrified by the mutual attraction.
Rose gets a little slap down. Maybe others can see what she thinks she's so good at hiding, even from herself.
In the opening scene, Rose has been told by the old midwife that her presence puts her family in danger and she's attempting to run away, for their sake.
Rose's carefully controlled world of secrets and half truths is beginning to unravel as she spends more and more time with the Fae.
A troop of traveling showmen make it to Willowvale (after Eeden controlled the weather by holding off the snow). Rose is about to hear the true tale of the Fae and her granfather's role in the Faerie Wars.
Jonathon convinces Rose's uncle to let her go to the Mill with him to await a party of hunter's tracking an especially large and vicious bear that's been terrorizing local farms. Jonathon's cousins are all there-only the youngest, Nora, is glad to see Rose. In order to escape their scorn, she draws closer to the forest.
