A rather wet parent blue tit is holding onto the outside of the nest box. The chick is safe and dry inside, andwaiting to be fed. The chick's face is peeping out, its bright yellow beak wide open.
Bats locate their food using sound It's a quick watercolour sketch of a cartoon bat flying across a dark night sky. The bat is highlighted as it flies in front of a bright yellow moon and shouts out, 'Marco!' Close to the ground, a moth flitting in between the trees replies: 'Polo! oops'

A slight dusting of snow across our garden. The garden is enclosed by fir trees and an old yew hedge. The snow is glistening white in the sunshine. In the distance, and hidden behind a tall hedgerow, the top of a turret (the building was once used to store fruit and veg grown in the walled-in garden). On the right hand side of the photo is the roof of an old barn.

Twelve hours after feeding time. I was hoping to wash the dish and prepare her meal for tonight. Laura, a pipistrelle bat is fast asleep in the corner of her food dish surrounded by the scattered remains of last nights meal, plus a couple of tiny poos.
Bat flight. 6m x 2.5m wooden frame covered in 8mm small mesh and containing 3 bat boxes. Inside is a protected area for recuperating orphaned and injured bats to practice their flying skills prior to release. The flight has been covered with clear sheets of plastic as the continual rain was starting to damage the floor. The flight is in our garden next to a tall hedge; hopefully it helps to provide insects for my bats to chase.
