Given the track record of the people behind this, I guess I'm hopeful, but I'll believe it's actually good when I see it I do not trust the current government to do good by an minority unless forced to The 2023 law that article mentions, for example, was walked back from it's original form SO much that the thing that was passed actually does little but make legal discrimination easier Yet the mere notion of a positive nod towards queer people, even if the law itself literally was worse than nothing, was still too left wing for some in the LDP, making some far right members splinter out of the party And we still lack any kind of national anti discrimination law for queer people, and we know for a fact that it's the farther right wing of the LDP to blame for it So this new education program will hopefully be a baby step in the right direction, but I honestly fear it'll just be badly presented misinformation that doesn't help anything
