Does the Constitution require that a presidential pardon be signed?

No. The U.S. Constitution does not require that a presidential pardon be signed, nor does it specify any particular form that a pardon must take. Article II, Section 2 simply states that the President "shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." It says nothing about signatures, written documents, or any required procedure.

That said, there are a few important distinctions:

Constitutional requirement: There is no explicit constitutional requirement that a pardon bear the President's handwritten signature.
Administrative practice: In modern times, pardons are almost always issued as written warrants signed (or purportedly signed) by the President and processed through the Department of Justice's Office of the Pardon Attorney. This is longstanding practice, not a constitutional mandate.
Proof of presidential intent: If a pardon were ever challenged, the key legal question would likely be whether the President actually decided to grant the pardon, not whether ink was applied by hand. A signed document is strong evidence of that intent, but it is not necessarily the only possible evidence.

I'm seeing a lot of fake information about a potential deal to reopen the Strait and end Iran's nuclear weapons program. First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region. This deal has the potential to remake the region and lead to lasting peace.

I've noticed a couple of bizarre things in the reporting over the last few hours. First, people who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports. Second, people who say you can't trust a word said by the IRGC who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts.

The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other.
