Hi Philip, our highways team have gotten back in contact with regards to your query. The dismount signs were put in because of a previous resident cyclists concerns with the deck plates of the bridge. The signs are to ensure that any cyclist crossing the bridge will not get their wheels caught in the deck plates, getting the cyclists to dismount was to avoid this eventuality. GW
