![A hometown update
I was born and raised in Columbus, and now have the misfortune to be working in Adrian, Michigan (Boo).
1 take Columbus Monthly for two reasons. First, to keep up on how the city is changing, and second, to let my friends know a little about my hometown.
When I have a party, I keep CM out on the table and invite others to get an insight to the Buckeye capi-tal. Articles which cover "The Bests & Worsts of Columbus" [July] and
"People to watch" [January] are great.
Better yet are articles which cover trends, for example, where the city is growing, where people are going.

In the April issue, Herb Cook Jr. reported on the status of the Wing v. Duncan lawsuit [City Journal]. As the defendant in the lawsuit, I would like to clarify a few of Mr. Cook's observations.
First, when Alice Wing offered to purchase my 51 percent interest in the Grapevine Cafe, we agreed on a purchase price of $51,000 (not $36,558). After we contacted an attorney, 80 percent of that purchase price was assigned to the covenant not to compete.
Second, on June 21, 1995, after a six-and-one-half-day trial, the jury found that in August, 1993, when Slammers opened for business, I did not own it! In fact, in June of 1993, Marcia Riley bought out Rodney Summers, and became (and re-mains) the sole owner of Slammers. Most recently, on Feb. 6, 1996, Ms. Wing finally agreed to a settlement and subsequently dismissed the appeal.
After over two long years of litigation, which caused division and distress in the
"Rainbow" community, it is my genuine hope that a period of "detente" will ensue.
