Tonight while working a family event at school I took a chance when I saw a Mom. I said “you may not remember me but I taught your son in 2nd grade at Irvin”. She said “Oh I do not but he’s in the car, we are leaving here to go to a Hornets game”. Thinking that was the end, I said “say hi” for me. 5 minutes later this whole grown kid comes and hug attacks me. We hugged for a while and he said “oh my God it’s you. I thought I lost you. You were my favorite teacher ever.” He kept going to leave because they were going to a Hornets game and then rehugging me. Naturally the tears streamed down my face. He went through hell and back his 2nd grade year in my class and still grew and was always so kind. He moved to Weddington for 3rd grade and now he’s a Senior at West Cabarrus. He didn’t know how much I needed tonight, but I’m so thankful it happened. 💙
