Virtual Ikebana
9 loops with lengths based on the Fibonacci sequence (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55), each starting at a random time. The loops are composed to always make musical sense, no matter how they overlap.

A musical Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) in 3D – the 3×3 points are composed according to Ikebana principles. Three sound types (soundscape, mid-range melody, bass voices), three of each, form three asymmetrical triangles, following the Ikebana ruleset.

The latest offshoot of the “art as scientific method” branch in my studies and research at IT University of Copenhagen, is an audiovisual project for iPhones. Real-time data from air quality measurements creates a soundscape that is visualized using color codes. Pure, ideal air is represented by a clear soundscape, which is obstructed in real time via seven data points (five gases and two particle sizes). It’s an app-based art experience that, through augmented reality, gives the illusion that the user can see and hear the air quality exactly where they are standing and walking.
