Chaco Canyon is a sacred cultural landscape with deep significance to Indigenous peoples across New Mexico and the Southwest. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently accepting public comments until tomorrow, July 29, on a proposal that may remove protections for this significant landscape in northwestern New Mexico. Removing this buffer would place irreplaceable cultural, historical, and environmental resources at risk and undermine generations of Indigenous stewardship. Taos Community Foundation is committed to protecting the lands, cultures, and communities that make New Mexico unique. We urge decision-makers to maintain the buffer zone and continue protecting this nationally significant landscape for future generations. Taos Community Foundation is currently hiring for a Team Executive Assistant. This full-time non-exempt position performs a variety of administrative and operational support duties designed to expedite office functions for Taos Community Foundation.
The 2026 TCF Impact Grant Cycle is OPEN for applications! Our largest annual grant cycle addresses key needs in our community, providing both project funding and core operational support to local nonprofit organizations.
The 2026 TCF Scholarship Cycle is open for applications! We have seven different scholarships available this year. We offer scholarships to those applying to 4-year colleges and universities as well as 2-year vocational/trade schools. The Fund for Taos to Address Urgent Community Needs as SNAP Benefits End: TAOS, NM - In response to the expiration of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, Taos Community Foundation is supporting local nonprofits that are helping families and individuals facing increased hardship, including food insecurity and financial strain. Our community created the Fund for Taos in 2020 to help our neighbors in times of urgent need—originally in response to the Covid-19 pandemic—and has since awarded 144 grants totaling more than $1.6 million through this fund to support local families. Every dollar contributed to the Fund for Taos supports local nonprofits responding to unmet needs in the community, which could include food, shelter, access to support services, and coordination between community networks. Currently, we are partnering with 100% Taos County Initiative and Taos Behavioral Health to distribute grocery and gas cards to families affected by the loss of SNAP benefits. TCF’s Philanthropist of the Year award recognizes an individual who has made an enduring commitment to our community. This individual’s vision of what’s possible shows up in actions and changes that touch people’s lives. This year’s recipient is Hank Friedman. Hank has dedicated more than 30 years to supporting the youth of our community both as a beloved soccer coach and through his work on TCF Scholarship Committees. Hank’s motto is one to live by: “Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.”

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in 2021, Ashley is now studying accounting at Central New Mexico Community College, studying to earn her CPA license. This full-time non-exempt position does work related to finance operations, including processing accounts receivable/accounts payable and donor/grant record-keeping. Teacher mini grants are open to all educators who work with students in Taos County. Any school personnel who work directly with students – teachers, principals, counselors, librarians, etc, may apply for grants up to $200.00. On International Women's Day, we want to highlight the work of Women Give Taos (WGT), a giving circle of Taos Community Foundation, which brings women together to engage in collective philanthropy. WGT is proud to announce that this year’s $30,000 grant will be awarded to Lions Club of Taos Inc., which will go toward funding their transformative KidSight Eye Van Program.
