all that to say, if there’s anyone out there who knows anyone studying thyroid eye disease + Grave Disease as possible autoimmune responses and their possible links to COVID (or not), my DMs are open. I’m desperate.
watching a family member’s health decline for seemingly no reason, no family history, no pre-conditions, just bc….vibes is scary, demoralizing, and enraging. i truly hate it here.
the doctors i’ve encountered from endocrinologists to primary docs to surgeons to eye doctors (all from the cleveland clinic) say they don’t know and are unsure. except for one doctor who emphatically said to my family member: “yes, it’s because of COVID.”
i’ve spoken with several doctors about COVID links to TED. yesterday, i pulled one doctor to the side and asked directly: do you know of any studies linking COVID to TED or other thyroid related diseases, she said—while ushering me quickly to the exit: “good question. i don’t know.”
